This Little Light of Mine! Update from Tierra’s CEO, Rebecca Lienhard, Friday, April 24, 2020
Growing up, I often sang the song “This little light of mine.” Today, by way of the video included in this email, I am reminded of the words.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…

Benny’s light is shining today because it’s Benny’s Birthday!
Over the past six weeks, I have seen the light of those we serve shine brighter every day. Smiling faces zooming into the new virtual world!!!!
- This week, Tierra del Sol provided over 80 virtual class options to those we serve. Over 450 people participated in the Chair Exercise class provided by our very own lifeguard, Corey. Over 100 people participated in Cesar’s Music and Social Zoom Time. Andrea led us in a two-part series of job skills needed to get a job at Disney and how we can become a competitive candidate for employment! 13 additional people focused on very specific job skills to be prepared for our new tomorrow delivered by our Job Club guru, Cyrus. And, over a half of dozen other associates completed dream boxes or renewed their commitment to their long-term dreams. This is to name just a few!
- 150 college students are finishing the semester with virtual services aligned specifically to their learning and studying needs.
- 80% of the artists in the Careers in the Arts progressive studios are participating in delightful, yet focused, creative art classes as a way of developing skills and showing off work completed.
- Over the last 5 weeks, we have deployed 80 tablets and 13 Chromebooks to those we serve.
- Just this week, we made 1960 calls home to our associates. That is an average of 392 calls a day!!!!
So many more numbers to share, but so little time…With all of this, I would say that we are still in full swing of services, albeit remotely!
Such amazing times!!!
As we approach May and think about our communities rebuilding together, the question I have for you is “How do you want your light to shine in the new tomorrow?” Tierra is here to partner with you to make that a possibility. This little light of mine…I’m gonna let it shine…
