Three Cheers FORE! Tierra

Tierra’s 19th Annual Golf Tournament, awards dinner, and auction, held on Monday, May 4, at Moorpark Country Club was a HOLE-IN-ONE!
Golfers enjoyed two challenging courses, sunshine, cool temps, swag, delicious food, and an inspiring dinner program that featured moving speeches from Paulina Alvarado, Tierra College to Career Student; Michael Leon, Tierra Board Member and Workforce Development Associate, and Rebecca Lienhard, Tierra CEO.

“Tierra has been instrumental in supporting me throughout this journey. From the outset, I recognized my potential, even during moments when I doubted it myself. The guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback have been invaluable in my personal and professional growth. Above all, I fostered an environment where I felt both supported and challenged to strive for excellence.”
– Paulina Alvarado,
Tierra College-to-Career Program
Cal State Northridge Student

“I’d like to thank the staff and leadership of Tierra del Sol for their tireless work and support. And I especially want to thank all of you here for your continuous support of Tierra. Without you, Tierra would not be able to provide programs and services for people with intellectual disabilities.”
– Michael Leon,
Tierra del Sol Board Member
Workforce Development Associate

The special honor of the evening went to Mike Quevedo Jr., who was recognized for his support and advocacy to Tierra over the last 40 years. Josie and Leon LeDoux, daughter and grandson to Mike, accepted Tierra’s Bud Brown Leadership & Volunteer Award on his behalf.
“My grandparents’ refusal to accept or limit what their children’s lives could be was what made Tierra del Sol a home for our family even before I was born over 40 years ago. When I think about my grandpa, I don’t just think about his leadership, his career, or what he built, I think about what he made possible. A family where everyone belongs, communities where everyone is seen, and it’s a legacy that continues to change lives and will change lives for generations to come. To my grandpa, we love you, we’re proud of you, and we are grateful for the life you have given all of us. And to Tierra, thank you so much for being a home for our family.”

Tierra would like to express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, golfers, donors, dinner guests, volunteers, and Golf Committee for making this year’s golf tournament a wonderful success. See you on the green next year!
