Please join us for this month’s Tierra Parent Forum, featuring special guest speaker, Dr. Rebecca Lienhard, Tierra’s Chief Executive Officer, career and policy advocate for all people with developmental disabilities.
Dr. Rebecca Lienhard joined Tierra in 1990. Over the course of her tenure, she has championed inclusion and value for people with disabilities through their unique contributions to our communities. She holds a doctorate degree from the University of Southern California in Organization Change and Leadership, a Master’s degree in Special Education, with emphasis in Moderate/Severe Disabilities and is a graduate of the University of Delaware National Leadership Institute on Developmental Disabilities.
Dr. Lienhard serves as the key spokesperson for the agency in local, state, and national venues. She has served on the Vendor Advisory Committee for the California Department of Developmental Services’ North Los Angeles County Regional Center, the State Council on Developmental Disabilities’ Employment First Committee, and as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Southern California APSE (Association of People Supporting Employment First). In observation of the Labor Day holiday, the offices of Tierra del Sol will be closed on Monday, September 1st. We wish you a wonderful and safe holiday. We will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Associates will need to check with their mentors and/or managers to determine if the services they receive are open for business on this holiday.

Bazaar Bazaar, our annual end-of-the-year exhibition featuring over 140 Tierra artists!
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 15, 6-8 pm
On View: November 15 – December 23, 2025
Bazaar Bazaar, as a yearly tradition, provides us with a platform to showcase the range and the depth of our artists and the community that has been built and continues to be built among them over time. Much like vendors at a market, our artists get to know each other week after week — their backgrounds, their ambitions, their lifestyles, etc. — and these relationships certainly have an effect on these individuals and their work. Each time we enter their studios, we learn so much from and about them, just as they learn from and about each other.
This year’s bazaar includes a wide assortment of shops from the feathers and fur shop to the globetrotter shop to the home and garden shop to the prism shop. This is where the conceptual and the pragmatic playfully collide for us here at Tierra. Within each shop, you will find stunning
works by familiar names who have been featured at or by the gallery numerous times over the years, such as Marlena Arthur, Tony Barnes, John Maull, Dru McKenzie, and Joe Zaldivar, alongside plenty of new surprises by so many of our other amazing artists who share studio space with them. Bazaar Bazaar is at once a serious celebration and a spunky spectacle; come say hi and celebrate within the spectacle!

“It is a time to give thanks!! I am grateful to know all of our parents, caregivers, and siblings, and to be a part of your lives. I understand how busy you all are due to the holidays, but our forum will be open for anyone who wants to drop in and chat, or perhaps I can answer some questions you have.
Please note, there will be no forum in December. We will reconvene in the new year on January 27th, with a presentation from Serentas Special Needs Planning. More details to come!
Please consider your future planning goals for next year and how Tierra can help you accomplish them.”
– Julie Snyder, Tierra’s Life Planning Navigator

Join Rebecca Lienhard, Tierra’s CEO and the Los Angeles Coalition of Service Providers (LACSP) for an online Legislative Forum to engage with Los Angeles area State Senators and Assemblymembers on key legislative and budget issues affecting service providers and those they serve.
This event is your chance to advocate, ask questions, and learn about the legislative process. Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of the conversation! The LACSP is comprised of 16 non-profit providers, representing over 23,000 individuals with developmental disabilities who receive Regional Center services.

On Tuesday, March 31st, join us for a conversation about developing a life planning work group coming up in the near future. Together, we will review where you are with your planning needs and where you want to be. We will also discuss the process of completing a Letter of Intent, which is a guide to your loved one’s care and the things only you know and wish to pass on to others. All are welcome!
